What this site is

FoodCostCalculators.com provides free, browser-based calculators and educational content for food-business owners and operators — recipe costing, menu pricing, break-even analysis, and related tools. There is no login, no account creation, and no charge to use any calculator.

The calculators are estimation tools, not professional advice

Every calculator on this site is a general-purpose estimation tool. It performs the math you'd otherwise do by hand, using the numbers you provide and, where stated, publicly sourced reference data (see our Methodology & Sources page). It is not accounting, tax, legal, or financial advice, and results are only as accurate as the numbers you enter. Your actual costs, margins, and pricing decisions depend on factors specific to your business that a general calculator cannot fully capture. For decisions with real financial consequences, verify results against your own records and consult a qualified accountant or business advisor.

Formulas and assumptions are shown, not hidden

Every calculator displays the formula it uses (usually in a "How this is calculated" section) so you can verify the math yourself. Where a calculator relies on third-party reference data (like USDA yield tables), that source is cited on the Methodology & Sources page.

Acceptable use

Attempt to disrupt, overload, or interfere with the site or its infrastructure (including automated scraping at a rate that degrades service for other users).
Use the site for any unlawful purpose.
Misrepresent calculator results as official guidance from us, USDA, or any other cited data source.

Embeddable widgets

Where a calculator offers an embeddable widget version, you're welcome to embed it on your own site as long as the "Powered by FoodCostCalculators.com" attribution and link stay intact and unmodified. We may update or discontinue a widget at any time.

Intellectual property

The site's design, original written content, and the calculation engine's code are owned by FoodCostCalculators.com. Publicly sourced reference data (such as USDA datasets) belongs to its original source and is used as permitted by that source's license. You may not copy or republish our written content or design wholesale; you're welcome to link to any page or embed a widget per the section above.

This site and its calculators are provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We work to keep formulas accurate and reference data correctly cited, but we don't guarantee the site will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for any particular purpose.
